The career prospects are excellent for materials engineers from RWTH Aachen University. Materials based fields in Germany, such as automotive or machine technology, the chemical industry, energy engineering, and metal production and processing, are all currently looking for qualified talent. Materials research, production and recycling are all innovation fields that are fundamental for new developments.
Aspects of materials development and recycling take on additional meaning when taking environmental demands and mineral resources and resource scarcity into account. Germany is considered one of the leading sites of materials research and development internationally.
In addition to the classic career fields of materials generative and processing industries, engineers from this course of study have opportunities available to them in research institutions, development departments, and administrative bodies. This is due to their broad basic knowledge. Engineers are desperately sought after in process and installation engineering, process control, quality control, environment protection, manufacturing and customer management, production, damage analysis, biomedical engineering, consulting, service in the field of material and waste control, subject journalism, and patent systems.
